On behalf of the administrative staff and Board of Commissioners let
me welcome you to Upson County Online.
I’d like to take a moment to
tell you how excited we are to have you on Team Upson.
Upson County is a great place to be firmly rooted. Whether you
are starting a family or establishing a business; residents will
tell you it is West Central Georgia’s place to live, work and play.
Upson has a population of approximately 28,000 and a total area of
326 square miles. The county has a continually growing, first-class
infrastructure with more than 600 miles of roads.
The Board of Commissioners work hand-in-hand with some of the finest
elected officials and department heads in Georgia.
Together, they are planning for Upson County's bright future
ahead. We use the Comprehensive Plan as a roadmap for the
County's growth over the coming years.
A major component of the plan is continuous improvement of
the quality of life for our residents and professional development
of an environment that fosters business growth and advancement.
Both of these items are of paramount importance to Chairman
Raines and the Board of Commissioners.
In recent years, the members of the Commission have demonstrated a
commitment to economic development by providing funding for numerous
projects around the county in addition to the work being conducted
on projects from the multi-million dollar, five-year SPLOST.
The Upson County Board of Commissioners meets every second and
fourth Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. in the Thomaston-Upson
Government Complex. Citizens are encouraged to attend
meetings. Upson County Departments are committed to customer
service and transparency in government; and you can reach them
anytime from 8:00 until 5:00 Monday through Friday.
We pride ourselves in maintaining a responsive and professional
government; providing a full range of county-run municipal services
to our citizens and a host of national and international visitors.
